How To Install Roof Flashing Against A Stucco Wall Average ratng: 3,6/5 4257votes
I have a 2 story home that I will be attaching a wood/asphalt shingle patio cover to. I am working with a contractor for the framing part and I do not trust how he wants to install the ledger.
He wants to bolt the Ledger right to the stucco and simply apply some roofing cement to seal the stucco to the shingles instead of using any flashing. I have heard everything from cutting a slit 6 inched above the roofline and inserting counter flashing to cutting out the stucco 6 inches above the roof and installing flashing. What is the right way to go about this? Thanks for the quick replies!

I was thinking to use a sheet of flashing across the top rather than step flashing. Also, should I just run a single flashing out the stucco and down the roof a few inches, or should I counter flash to seperate the wall from the roof to allow for expansion/contraction?
